Baby J @ 27 weeks

How baby J is growing inside me according to Babycenter.com:

This week your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He can now open and close his eyes, and he sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if he were to be born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and isn’t bothersome to him, so enjoy the tickle. With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. Wonder what he’s thinking?

So how am I doing on my 27th week? I’ve been experiencing this a lot lately:

  1. lower back pains lalo na sa gabi bago matulog.
  2. I’m more gassy now unlike before (fart, burp … name it hahaha! embarassing grabe!)
  3. My tummy’s getting itchy already huhuhu! as much as I wanted not to have stretch marks, eh ngayon meron na … kahit naglagay ako ng sandamakmak na cocoa butter nung 1st trimester, nagkaroon pa din ako ng stretch marks. Huhuhu!
  4. Baby J is more comfortable when I sit na naka-incline. Kaya I don’t sitmuch in front of the PC because…
  5. Madali na ako mangalay
Kaya OB told me to take Vit. B vitamins again for it.
  7. I’m not constipated anymore. Thanks for fruit juices, water and a non-constipating ferrous sulfate capsule.
  8. I’m beginning to feel I’m gaining more weight now than before. OB was so happy that every prenatal visit, I only gain one kilo. Ewan ko lang ngayon, kasi my tummy’s so big na and I could feel I’m big na din. Lamon to death ba naman ako eh hahaha!

I’m scheduled to have my glucose test on Sunday. Naku, I hope I’ll pass … ayoko magka-gestational diabetes.

And one more thing I’m looking forward to on Sunday … a date with hubby hehehe! Actually, its not a date talaga … pero mag-canvass na kami ng baby things for Baby J like the playpen and stroller. And since sale sa mall, baka mag-purchase na din kami ng iba pa kailangan ni Baby J. I told Jason kasi eversince I got pregnant, di na kami lumalabas na kami lang. Kaya sabi niya this coming Sunday daw magdidate kami weeeeeeee!

I could feel Baby J more often. Sometimes nagigising ako sa mga kicks niya and stretching. Nakakatuwa kasi ang kulit kulit niya. Baby J, konting tiis nalang … 2 more months and welcome to the outside world hehehe. Everybody’s so excited already to see you. Kaya enjoy the last 2 months in mommy’s tummy ok? Your daddy and I will take care of you. mwah!

Charmed

charmed_wp3_800x600.jpg

Just as my hubby complains about Skycable because they got rid of the NBA channel, I, on the other hand was very thankful for Velvet Channel. I was able to watch my favorite tv show again and again … Charmed! Monday - Friday 11:30 am and replays at 5:30 pm. Actually, Studio 23 has its own encore of Charmed every Wednesday and Thursday at 11:oopm. They’re airing I think the last season of Charmed.

According to this site the one they’re airing in Velvet Channel is already half way through 2nd season. Actually, almost done … only 6 episodes to go till 3rd season.

Eversince I live and worked in Laoag in 2005, I didn’t catch the last 3 seasons of Charmed. Wala kasi cable sa Laoag. Meron naman pero where I’m living (at my Grandma’s house) bawal ang cable dun because it would interfere sa airport daw. Kaya kahit panoorin ko yung encore ng last season sa Studio 23, I don’t have the slighest idea how that Billie girl and her sister came to the picture.

Trivia: Jason got Baby J’s second name in one of the cast of Charmed.

Tips! Tips! Tips!

Jason and I are first time parents. We always make it a point to consult advices from our friends and family on what things to be bought for baby J. Good thing one of my friend and ka-bloggie Azrael shared some buying tips for soon to be parents. I’ve been bugging him for days on what to buy for baby J. And he got inspired to blog about his shopping experience for his baby Aila.

So if you need some tips, maybe he can help you. Don’t worry, it’s so informative and entertaining as well. I was laughing so hard when I read his post (sorry bro, can’t help it!) Don’t forget to leave some love on his blog if you liked his entry. He wanted to know what soon to be parents would react on his entry hehehe!

Oh Az, thanks for the MP3’s … Baby J liked it so much … she’s up all day. I think she enjoyed listening.

Baby J @ 26 weeks

Two more weeks and goodbye to 2nd trimester. I’m thanking God for all the guidance and strength to surpass all my pregnancy woes. And to my husband, parents and brothers who’s always there to take care of me. I’m sure I’ll gonna miss the pampering and all once I give birth. I’m so excited to give birth to Baby J … pero pag tungkol sa panganganak … medyo nandiyan pa ang takot ko. Siyempre, I don’t know what to expect. It’s my first time to get pregnant no! Kaya I’m sure normal naman sa first time mom ang matakot di ba? Sabi nga ni OB may epidural or what they call painless delivery naman ngayon. It’s much better than CS. As much as possible gusto ko din normal delivery ako. Kasi sabi ni OB, pag CS ka nanganak sa first baby mo, all throughout your next pregnancies, eh CS ka na lagi. Hello! Kaya much better kung normal delivery.

Lately, I’ve been having leg cramps every morning. Good thing Jason is always there para mapawi yung leg cramps ko. According to babycenter.com:

Why am I having leg cramps during pregnancy?

No one really knows why women have more leg cramps when they’re pregnant. It’s possible that your leg muscles are tired from carrying around all of your extra weight. Or they may be aggravated by the pressure your expanding uterus puts on the blood vessels that return blood from your legs to your heart and the nerves that lead from your trunk to your legs.

Leg cramps may start to plague you during your second trimester and may get worse as your pregnancy progresses and your belly gets bigger. While these cramps can occur during the day, you’ll probably notice them most at night.

Kaya as usual, ako nanaman ang cook at the same time secretary ni Kuya at Jason sa mga probable clients nila.

Nakakaasar kasi minsan it’s so itchy. Di mo naman makamot kasi lalong lalala.

Another thing is nararamdaman ko na yung Braxton Hicks na sinasabi nila… eh ano ba yung Braxton Hicks? According ulit sa well reliable babycenter.com:

What are Braxton Hicks contractions?
Braxton Hicks are sporadic uterine contractions that actually start at about 6 weeks, although you won’t be able to feel them that early. You probably won’t start to notice them until sometime after midpregnancy, if you notice them at all (some women don’t). They get their name from John Braxton Hicks, an English doctor who first described them in 1872.

As your pregnancy progresses, Braxton Hicks contractions tend to come somewhat more often, but until you get to your last few weeks, they should remain infrequent, irregular, and essentially painless. Sometimes, though, Braxton Hicks are hard to distinguish from early signs of preterm labor.

Play it safe and don’t try to make the diagnosis yourself. If you haven’t hit 37 weeks yet and you’re having four or more contractions in an hour, or have any other signs of preterm labor, call your caregiver immediately.

By the time you’re within a couple of weeks of your due date, these contractions may get more intense and more frequent, and cause some discomfort. Unlike the earlier painless and sporadic Braxton Hicks contractions that caused no obvious cervical change, these may help your cervix “ripen”: gradually soften and efface, and maybe even begin to dilate a bit. This period is sometimes referred to as “pre-labor.”

Since hindi pa ako under the pre-term period eh agad kong pinaalam to sa aking OB.

Again, according to babycenter.com:

Your baby now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber), from head to heel. The nerve pathways in her ears are developing, which means her response to sounds is growing more consistent. Her lungs are developing now, too, as she continues to take small breaths of amniotic fluid — good practice for when she’s born and takes that first breath of air. If you’re having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

Baby J is so active (Thank you, Lord), Minsan nakikita ni Jason umaalon yung tummy ko. From there, dun mag-uumpisa ang Daddy and baby conversation nila. I’ve never imagine Jason would be like this. Wala sa personality niya maging mushy and showy, but eversince I got pregnant he never fails to talk to Baby J all the time. Malamang, daddy’s girl ang baby namin (just like her mom hehehe!). May second name na si Baby J … si Jason ang nag-suggest and I like the name sounded pag kinabit sa first name niya weeeeeeee! Ayan, may correction nanaman sa Baby book niya… di bale isisingit ko nalang hihihi.

Nice Surprise

I wasn’t expecting this one. Mom’s friend promised me that she will share some of the expenses for my baby shower. But due to busy schedules and hard to find friends to have this occasion, she told me to use the money nalang to buy Baby J’s things. So, last weekend while Dad was in Laoag for my late grandpa’s birthday bash and Jason was in Pampanga for a UAP Capitol Chapter Conference, Mom, Kuya Stan, Butchoy and me went to the mall to shop. My mom was aching to have her feet massage while Kuya Stan and Butchoy is itching to buy new clothes (as usual sweldo kasi) kaya sumama ako. I had money enough to buy all of this …
I could feel that Baby J was so happy … coz while we were having a talk with the saleslady, she’s so malikot. Avent has a promo, whenever you buy a set of their products, you get a 4oz feeding bottle for free. Since I bought 2 (sterilizer and breastpump), we have 2 4oz bottle for free. Included with the sterilizer and breastpumps some freebies like pacifier, 2 feeding bottles, bottle brush cleaner, bottle nipples, and nursing pads. Sabi naman ni Mom if I’m planning to breastfeed exclusively, baka nga daw di magamit yan mga yan hehehe. So far ok na muna yan 6 bottles.

Thanks to Ate Del for the gifts!

Now let me check my list … so far so good!

    Thank you so much Kaye!
Anger is only one letter short of danger. If someone betrays you once, it is his fault; If he betrays you twice, it is your fault. Shopping List

    Mommy’s Gifts

Here are some of the baby stuffs mom had bought for Baby J. Puro puti no? Kasi mga pambahay lang naman yan. Sabi din niya, it’s best to buy white ones kasi para makita yung dumi … and obviously, lampin baby si Baby J, she bought 2 dozens of cloth diaper. But guess what she forgot to buy … diaper pins wahahaha! Si mom talaga oh, makakalimutin talaga … naku I’m sure magiging ganun na din ako … ganun daw pag na-anesthesia daw, nagiging makakalimutin.Since I’m just staying at home, and never letting boredom get in the way, I’m starting to make a shopping list for Baby J’s stuff. Though some of the small things are already in hand, medyo kulang nalang yung mga big stuffs. I got some of the list from the N@W files.

    BABY CHECKLIST:

    1. Shirts
    2. Pajama/Night Time Wear
    3. Going Home Outfit - eto ang wala pa ako, it’s for the baby and the mom kasi after giving birth. I have to buy something na may buttons in front para madali daw magpabreastfeed.
    4. Newborn Diaper
    5. Baby Wipes
    6. Baby Toiletries
    7. Baby Book - Jason bought this for me last December through my mom’s friend. Sinabay sa pagbili ng Harry Potter 7. But I’m still planning to buy a baby album for more pictures.
Some choices are Avent, Medela and Pigeon. But I’ll gonna stick with Avent.
Pero maybe I’ll choose nightwears nalang na may front buttons for easy access.
    10. Nursing Bra
    11. Mittens
    12. Bottles, Bottle Nipples etc. - Avent na bibilhin ko … all the way hahaha!
    13. Stroller - A lot of people I know were suggesting to buy Graco strollers, kasi suer naman daw sila na masusundan si baby J kaya magagamit ang stroller na to kahit bulky siya.
    14. Booties and Cap
    15. Towel/Blanket
    17. Cloth diapers and Diaper clips - nakalimutan bilhin wahahaha!
    18. Diaper Cream
    19. Thermometer, Nasal Aspirator, Nail Cutter
    20. Baby Classical CD’s
    21. Bathtubs
    22. Toys
    23. Crib/Playpen
    24. Beddings
    25. Pillows
    26. Sterilizer
    27. Bibs
    28. Pacifier
    29. High Chair
    30. Books
    31. Diaper Bag - order ako from a fellow N@Wie, Morning
    32. Baby Sling - order ako from a fellow N@Wie din, si Jen
May nakalimutan pa ba ako? Just leave some love kung may nakalimutan pa ako ha. How sweet … starting to get jealous now hahaha. Baby J is now 25 weeks … here’s how she’s growing:

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn’t much more than an average rutabaga, but he’s beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he’ll start to look more and more like a newborn. His hair is probably recognizable now (in color and texture), although both may change after he’s born.

    Baby J’s First Gifts

    Credits:

Thanks to Tita Evelyn, Tita Yolanda and Tita Josie for this wonderful gifts. I’m sure Baby J will love them. And I can’t wait to let her wear them all. Obvious na girl anak ko no? Puro shades of pink hehehe! I had my prenatal check up last Wednesday. Baby J’s already in her 24th week. 6 months to be exact … only 3 more months to go weeeeeee! I’m on medication right now due to colds and cough for almost a week now, OB gave me antibiotics… actually, I have no colds anymore, but the thing is … hinog na ang plema ko (pasintabi sa mga kumakain) kaya I need medical help na. I’ve been having series of I’m-having-a-hard-time-breathing nights, that’s why I need to take antibiotics. OB told me it’s ok naman with the baby kaya never worry. Thank God for Neti Pot … my Tita Yolanda gave this to us because my kuya watched this in Oprah one time. Good thing she did watched that episode. It’s a Nasal rinse similar to Salinese drops babies uses. It really do wonders … it gets rid of those sticky mucus in your nose. After the nasal wash, just sneeze and it will all come out without effort.Baby J is now super duper active … I could always feel her moving even at day. When we were at OB’s clinic, OB felt her move, too. She’s so malikot hihihi! That’s a good sign I know. Even if I’m gulping lots of medicines right now, I know she’s fine and active. According to babycenter.com, this is how Baby J’s growing:

Your baby’s growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when she was just over a pound. Since she’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she’ll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby’s skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. Her lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” and cells that produce surfactant, a substance **that helps the air sacs inflate easily.

Everybody’s getting excited already especially me and Jason. We’re planning to buy Baby J’s things next month. It’s the big stuffs we’ll gonna purchase, like Graco playpens, strollers, infant car seats, beddings, Avent sterilizers and Avent feeding bottles. Mom’s gonna purchase the lampin and white sando or shirt for baby J. She said kasi, it’s better to buy infant clothes in white, para daw makita kung may langgam, or kung ano man dumapo sa kanya. I won’t buy breast pump muna, kasi hindi ko alam if I’m like a milking cow. Mom and her sister never did breastfeed because they’re not capable of having one. Even my Dad’s sisters are the same. When I asked OB about it, sinabi niya na it’s heriditary … pero these days wala ng impossible … meron na daw iniinom para magkaroon ng milk ang isang nursing mom. Well, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed, sana nga magkaroon ako ng milk by the time Baby J’s here na.

Baby J’s have a name already but Jason wanted to keep it a secret for a while. Mom did won on the baby’s name. We don’t want to argue with her kasi baka magtampo. It’s a nice name naman kaso a lot of girls have that name already. I don’t know if she’ll gonna have a second name or what … I was thinking that maybe if ever we’ll give her a second name baka mahirapan magsulat sa school ng pangalan niya. The first name is quite long na din kasi … oh well … We still have 3 months to decide on that.
